To be eligible for The Dream Home Project contest (the “Contest”), you must (a) be a legal resident of British Columbia for at least 2 years; (b) be at least 19; (c) be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada; (d) have not have owned property anywhere before; (e) have a down payment saved and accessible of no less than $10,000.00.  Eligible properties are existing single-family homes, apartments, condos, or townhomes located in Zones 4 and 5 of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board:  Nanaimo, Lantzville, Nanoose Bay, Parksville, French Creek, Qualicum Beach, North Qualicum, Bowser, Deep Bay, Errington, Coombs, Little Qualicum River Village.  You are not eligible if you are: (a) an employee or contingent staff member of Royal LePage, or other representatives involved in any part of the administration and execution of this contest; or, (b) a member of the immediate family of any of the above persons.  “Immediate family” is defined as parents, siblings, children, spouse or common law partner regardless of where they live.


The contest will begin at 12:00:01 pm Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) on October 8, 2021, and end at 11:59:59 pm PST on January 31, 2022 (the “Contest Period”). To enter, you must submit your first and last name, email address, and year of birth together with a written statement, photos, and/or short video describing your dream of home ownership to the following email address: [email protected] .  These steps together are referred to as an “Entry”.  Limit one (1) Entry per person and entrants may only use one email address throughout the Contest Period.  Entries may NOT contain, as determined by us in our sole and absolute discretion, any content that is obscene or offensive, violent, defamatory, disparaging or illegal, or that promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco or a particular political agenda, or that communicates messages that may reflect negatively on the goodwill of Karen Kenyon, Karen Kenyon Personal Real Estate Corporation, Dream Homes Vancouver Island Group or Royal LePage Parksville-Qualicum Realty Ltd. (collectively the “Entities”). Entries containing such content will be disqualified.


On or around March 14, 2022 at 1:00 pm PST in Nanoose Bay, British Columbia, a panel of 5 judges (the “Panel”) will select a winner from among the eligible Entries. The selected Entrant will be notified via email within 7 days of selection at the email address provided at the time of entry. Please check your email and spam filters.  The selected entrant must (a) respond to a notification; and (b) provide (i) proof of identity and residency; (ii) an unconditional contract of purchase and sale of an eligible property having a completion date on or before September 30, 2023 (the “End Date”); (iii) proof of representation by a Realtor licensed by The BC Financial Services Authority; (iv) a declaration of compliance with Official Contest Rules; and (v) a full liability and publicity release.  If the selected entrant does not respond to email notification within 7 days of selection, the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate entrant.  In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. A selected entrant may be required to provide us with proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected entry. 



There is one (1) prize of FIFTY THOUSAND ($50,000.00 CDN) CANADIAN DOLLARS (the “Prize”) available to be won.  The Prize will be paid to the winner’s lawyer or notary public, in trust, to be applied to the purchase of an eligible property before the End Date. The winner must irrevocably direct the winner’s lawyer or notary public to return the Prize to a representative of The Dream Home Project if the Prize is not applied to the purchase of an eligible property before the End Date.  


By entering, you agree to release and hold harmless the Entities, their advertising and promotional agencies, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, the affiliates of the foregoing and all of their respective directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the “Releasees”) from any liability in connection with this Contest or, should you be the winner, the Prize. By accepting the Prize, the winner consents to the use of their name, city and/or province of residence, photograph, voice, image, likeness, biographical information and information about the Prize, for any publicity or programming purposes, commercial or otherwise, throughout the world in any and all media used by the Entities and their advertising and promotional agencies in connection with the Contest, without payment or compensation. The personal information collected in connection with the administration of this contest will be managed in accordance with the Royal LePage Parksville-Qualicum Beach Realty privacy policy. This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or other social media platform.



Without limiting the release provided for in Paragraph 5 above, and for greater certainty, Releasees will not be liable for any defects or issues associated with the eligible property or any matters arising from the purchase of an eligible property by the Winner.  Entrants are required to obtain their own professional advice including but not limited to legal, tax, and building inspection services.     


We reserve the right to terminate, suspend or amend this Contest, in whole or in part, at any time without prior notice, if any factor interferes with its proper conduct as contemplated by these Official Rules, including an insufficient number of eligible entries.  Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, if the Contest or any part thereof is not capable of running as planned for any reason or if, in the Entities’ sole discretion the security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest has been compromised by computer virus, technical failures, tampering, fraud, or other authorized intervention, we may (a) terminate or suspend the Contest or any portion thereof; (b) modify or suspend the Contest to address the impairment.  


By entering the contest, you agree to the use and collection of personal information.  Dream Homes Vancouver Island does not and will not disclose your personal information to non-affiliated third parties, or contact you for any reason unrelated to the Contest without your express consent.  We will comply with the Royal LePage Parksville-Qualicum Beach Realty Privacy Code.  


Entrants who have not complied with these Official Rules are subject to disqualification from this Contest. All decisions of the Panel are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. No correspondence will be entered into except with selected entrants. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. Contest is void where prohibited.  By entering this Contest, entrants agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.

 We reserve the right at our sole discretion to disqualify, from this Contest and any future Contest or other promotion conducted by us, any individual that we find or believe to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or Contest Website; to be acting in violation of the Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.  


In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between these Official Rules and other statements contained in any contest-related materials, including but not limited to the contest application, print or online advertising, these Official Rules shall prevail, govern and control.
